Thats how sound works, except with air molecules the dominoes immediately go back to standing straight up after they knock the next one in line down.
So if you pushed the end of it once, they would fall down and stand back up in sequence. If you pushed it twice in a row, the dominoes would fall down and stand back up in sequence and then immediately get knocked down and stand back up again, because you pressed it twice. So you’d see it as two little “fall points” traveling along the domino chain. This number of “fall points” is equivalent to the frequency of a sound wave.
Now imagine the line of dominoes as starting at the airplane engine and ending at your ear. If you match the pattern of falling dominoes from one end of the domino chain at the other end of the domino chain, the falling dominoes will meet in the middle and the two waves will cancel each other out.
so the sound never actually reaches your ear and cant do damage to your eardrum

Basically the noise cancelling headphones neutralize the sound waves- the energy never reaches your eardrums (or at least, most of it doesn’t) so your eardrums should be fine.

It also should be mentioned that one of the biggest, if not the biggest seller of slaves was black people, selling other black people. So I know it’s an easy scapegoat and they love to bring it up every time they have to sneeze but it really had been beaten to death and they are hurting their own cause by continuing to use it as an excuse.

Technically what happens is that the noise is sampled, and reproduced phase reversed so that it physically cancels out the original noise. To be honest although I am a professional sound engineer and do understand in principle what they are doing there, I find it quite the miracle still.
